Ventia Pty Limited is looking to engage a Planning Consultant to collaborate closely with our Telecommunications wireless contract.
In this role, reporting to the National Planning and Community Engagement Manager, you will be involved in a greenfield mobile deployment initiative for a prominent telecommunications company. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee all town planning functions associated with telecommunications facilities.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Belmont, operating Monday to Friday, with occasional travel required to various sites for scoping works alongside the SAED (Site Acquisition, Environment & Design) team.
The Planning Consultant will handle all aspects of town planning, regulatory compliance, heritage considerations, native land title, and environmental matters related to the proposed installations. You will coordinate and prepare all necessary documentation for submission to relevant statutory consent authorities to secure planning approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive planning reviews to identify potential issues impacting site selection, feasibility, acquisition, and scheduling.
- Review regulatory compliance requirements to ensure timely site acquisition approvals.
- Manage all town planning and regulatory obligations related to the proposed installations or upgrades in accordance with client deployment processes and Industry Code C564:2018.
- Oversee sites from selection through to securing town planning approvals, including the preparation and submission of all required documentation to authorities.
- Assess regulatory compliance requirements, determine necessary consultations, and establish the appropriate planning instruments and timelines for each site.
- Prepare development applications, manage community and stakeholder engagement, negotiate statutory approvals with local councils, update the RFNSA, and participate in council meetings.
- Assist in the preparation and facilitation of community meetings.
- Support the broader SAED team as the subject matter expert in all planning-related matters.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Town Planning or a related field.
- Relevant experience in environmental planning within a mobile telecommunications carrier or SAED service provider.
- Strong understanding of state planning and environmental legislation, as well as the Telecommunications Act 1997 for mobile infrastructure deployment.
- Exceptional communication skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
- The successful candidate must possess the right to work in Australia and hold a valid Australian driver's license.
