JOB TITLE: Telecommunications Technician - Unified Communications Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

The Telecommunications Technician - Unified Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing and supporting the full spectrum of analog, digital, and Unified Communications (UC) systems at our customers’ sites. This role will play a critical part in the transition from on-premises services to a cloud-based environment, ensuring seamless communication operations across enterprise-wide networks, including remote locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Unified Communications Implementation: Lead the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of UC systems, including migrating existing on-premises services to cloud-based solutions.
  • Voice and Data Communications: Manage and support voice and data communications hardware and software systems, including VOIP, ensuring high availability and reliability across the organization.
  • Network Design & Development: Participate in the design, development, and implementation of communication systems and networks, ensuring they meet current and future business needs.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Oversee the installation, termination, splicing, testing, and certification of fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure. This includes working within buildings and across local cable plant infrastructures.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of new communication technologies with existing systems, coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting, testing, and repair services for communication systems, including UC platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and installations. Ensure all work adheres to industry standards, codes, and legal regulations.
  • Customer Engagement: Establish and maintain strong customer relationships by providing expert advice, resolving concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with communication services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications, with a strong focus on UC systems, VOIP, and the migration of on-premises services to cloud environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in the installation, configuration, programming, and maintenance of telecommunication hardware, software, and fiber optic/copper cabling.
  • Cloud & UC Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of cloud-based communication platforms and experience in transitioning from on-premises to cloud-based UC solutions.
  • Blueprint & Cable Design: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cable designs, and technical specifications.
  • Security Compliance: The successful candidate must pass a rigorous background check and be compliant with federal tax requirements, as this role supports IRS offices.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in telecommunications, cloud-based UC systems (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft Teams, Zoom), and fiber optics.
  • Project Management: Experience leading projects related to the migration of communication services to the cloud.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in telecommunications and cloud technologies through ongoing education and technical publications.
