Job Title: IT Infrastructure AIX Technical Operations Engineer

Starcom Consulting Limited is seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure AIX Technical Operations Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our datacenter technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Engineer for Datacenter Technologies: Design and build out datacenter technologies, including VMware, VxRail, and SAN infrastructure.
  • Primary Support for Windows and Linux Servers: Provide primary support for Windows and Linux (RedHat) servers running on VMware, VxRail in a 24x7x365 environment.
  • Primary Support for UNIX / AIX Servers: Provide primary support for UNIX / AIX servers and SAN infrastructure.
  • Security Initiatives and Network Operations: Support security initiatives, network operations, and database infrastructure as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Day-to-Day Overview: Provide day-to-day overview for datacenters within the Americas Division, including VMware hosts, virtual machines, SAN, FC connectivity, and infrastructure hardware.
  • AIX System Administration: Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, customize, and maintain AIX systems while ensuring overall system performance and availability.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor AIX systems, analyzing problems and performing research and maintenance to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Testing and Documentation: Test and document systems prior to deployment.
  • System Settings and Compliance: Perform regular revalidation of system settings to ensure compliance with policies and needs.
  • Automation and Scripting: Use scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Availability and Response: Be available to respond to the needs of a 24x7x365 environment.
  • Account Management: Create, modify, and delete account information. Evaluate access rights and permissions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document system requirements, configurations, procedures, changes, incidents, and problem resolutions.
  • Security Breaches: Mitigate security breaches in progress.
  • Backup and Restore: Backup and restore systems using NIM, mksysb, and Rubrik Backup solution.
  • Vendor Management: Work with vendors for all aspects of system maintenance, including annual maintenance renewals, hardware, and software support.
  • Change Control: Adhere to all change control policies.
Desired Skills and Knowledge:
  • VMWare (VxRail): Experience with VMWare (VxRail) is highly desirable.
  • RedHat Linux: Experience with RedHat Linux is highly desirable.
  • Windows Server: Experience with Windows Server (All Versions) is highly desirable.
  • SAN (Dell EMC PowerStore): Experience with SAN (Dell EMC PowerStore) is highly desirable.
  • Fiber Channel Zoning: Experience with Fiber Channel Zoning is highly desirable.
  • AIX V. 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3 System Administration: Experience with AIX V. 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3 system administration is highly desirable.
  • Networking (DNS, TCP/IP, etc.): Experience with networking (DNS, TCP/IP, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • AIX Storage (MPIO, VGs, LVMs, JFS): Experience with AIX storage (MPIO, VGs, LVMs, JFS) is highly desirable.
  • AIX Security (IPsec, EFS, roles, sudo, trusted execution): Experience with AIX security (IPsec, EFS, roles, sudo, trusted execution) is highly desirable.
  • AIX Performance Monitoring and Reporting (NMON, topas): Experience with AIX performance monitoring and reporting (NMON, topas) is highly desirable.
  • LDAP: Experience with LDAP is highly desirable.
  • SSL (Knowledge of Certificates and application of such): Experience with SSL (Knowledge of Certificates and application of such) is highly desirable.
  • Server Virtualization (LPARs, WPARs, VIO, etc.): Experience with server virtualization (LPARs, WPARs, VIO, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • IBM P-Series Servers: Experience with IBM P-Series Servers is highly desirable.
  • IBM PowerVM and PowerHA: Experience with IBM PowerVM and PowerHA is highly desirable.
  • SAN Experience (LUNs, NPIV): Experience with SAN experience (LUNs, NPIV) is highly desirable.
  • Scripting (ksh, perl, etc.): Experience with scripting (ksh, perl, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Windows PowerShell Experience: Experience with Windows PowerShell is highly desirable.
  • Monitoring and Managing Servers: Experience with monitoring and managing servers with a 24/7/365 level uptime is highly desirable.
  • Hardware and Software Inventory Management: Experience with hardware and software inventory management is highly desirable.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Experience with developing and implementing disaster recovery plans is highly desirable.
  • Project Management: Experience with project management within large, complex systems is highly desirable.
  • Effective Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills are highly desirable.
  • Teamwork and Problem Resolution: Values teamwork and works well with others, with strong problem resolution and attention to detail skills.
  • Database Environment Experience: Experience supporting database environments, preferably HANA, is highly desirable.
