Supervision:
Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance team, including both employees and contractors, to guarantee the safe and efficient delivery of utilities across various facilities.
This role involves coordinating and executing shutdowns of equipment, systems, and services to minimize customer impact while ensuring repairs are completed in a cost-effective manner.
Training:
Offer guidance and support to the maintenance staff to ensure all personnel achieve and maintain necessary training qualifications, while fostering opportunities for skill enhancement.
This encompasses training in environmental, safety, regulatory, and core job competencies, which includes scheduling, tracking, and occasionally delivering training sessions.
Preventative Maintenance:
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance support schedule throughout the facility. Collaborate with Plant Managers to enhance and optimize preventive maintenance strategies.
This includes setting protocols for new equipment, creating and maintaining maintenance schedules for all plant machinery and subsystems, and managing work orders.
Procurement:
Support all maintenance and repair operations by managing spare parts inventories, including issuing materials for work orders and overseeing stock replenishment purchasing.
Investigate options for equipment and material replacements, proceeding with the purchase of approved components while focusing on cost reduction and system reliability improvements.
Create bid specifications for equipment, materials, and services, assess the bids received, and execute approved purchases.Monitor costs related to each procurement and authorize invoices as necessary.
Maintain an organized purchasing and accounts payable filing system that encompasses all plant transactions.
Technical Support:
Provide engineering, technical, and logistical assistance to maintenance personnel. Evaluate and resolve power plant malfunctions. Guide maintenance staff in troubleshooting and repairing equipment and systems. Be available for on-call emergency response as needed. Implement engineering protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Contract Management:
Plan and supervise the work of external contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with contracts and specifications.
Assist in creating detailed job scopes and soliciting competitive bids. Monitor all material orders and replenishments, collaborating with procurement to achieve cost savings through competitive bidding.Safety:
Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Verify that plant life safety systems and equipment meet regulatory standards and that personnel fulfill minimum safety training requirements.
Records Retention:
Establish and maintain a thorough record retention system that includes procurement records, environmental permits, parts lists, equipment bill of materials, Standard Operating Procedures, environmental/regulatory training, drawings, and obsolescence documentation.
Project Support:
Collaborate with the Construction and Engineering department on the engineering, design, construction, and commissioning of major projects, while also assisting plant managers with minor projects.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Assistant or Power Plant Manager.
- May undertake other duties as required.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles applicable to the operation and maintenance of steam, chilled water systems, electrical generation, boilers, chillers, gas turbines, and distribution networks.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Capable of managing and preparing scheduling, documentation, and reports. Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Highly motivated with the capacity to work independently. Proficient in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, documents, manuals, and regulatory guidelines.
Work Week:
Standard (Monday to Friday with equal hours each day)
