The Industrial Project Engineer will take charge of the design and oversight of industrial furnace constructions, renovations, and upgrades. This role requires effective communication with the combustion team, suppliers, and clients. The engineer will collaborate with various departments and vendors to ensure project completion and provide mechanical support during the construction phase.

The Project Engineer will engage in the following activities:

  • Design and specification of process equipment (mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation) for systems involving inert atmosphere gas, natural gas, heating oils, combustion air, and water.
  • Examples of equipment include control valves, pressure regulators, relief valves, heat exchangers, safety shut-off valves, air supply blowers, exhaust fans, pumps, pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, and controllers.
  • Design of refractory insulation.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 54 & 86 standards.
  • Design of SMACNA ductwork.
  • Creation of ISA-based P&IDs, PFDs, and piping schematics.
  • Collaboration with piping designers and drafters to produce detailed system drawings.
  • Hands-on training to understand company standard assembly procedures.
  • Coordination within the fabrication facility.
  • Inspection of components received from suppliers and finished systems.
  • Travel to construction sites for installation and commissioning, including start-up and troubleshooting.
  • Collaboration with control and electrical engineers to develop control schemes for temperature, flow, and pressure to meet process requirements.

Engineering
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor, and Visio to create models and drawings of products.
  • Ensure components and assemblies meet contractual, drawing, and customer specifications.
  • Validate designs with the engineering team.
  • Commission and troubleshoot new equipment during start-up.
  • Organize and maintain existing engineering documentation.
Project Management
  • Develop a comprehensive project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Procure items based on assembly order and lead times.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including client equipment manuals, drawings, preventive maintenance schedules, and spare parts lists.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all projects within scope and budget by monitoring the progress of design, production teams, and third-party vendors.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through responsiveness, technical expertise, and proactive engagement with customer needs.
  • Participate in regular audits of completed jobs to enhance quality, delivery, and cost efficiency, thereby improving quote accuracy and profitability.

  • Numerical Ability: Proficient in basic calculations and mathematical reasoning.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for handling equipment.
  • Capability to handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with random drug testing.
  • Wear personal protective equipment in field environments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
