Position Overview
The role entails overseeing the managerial direction and leadership of the Electrical Department within the Aviation & Federal Global Practice, currently comprising approximately ten direct reports. This position also requires engagement in the marketplace, contributing to business development and providing technical support across various business lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the quality of Electrical and Low Voltage design deliverables.
  • Recruit, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to team members in collaboration with management.
  • Identify and communicate training needs for staff to management.
  • Seek improvements, monitor quality levels, and investigate root causes of quality issues.
  • Address staff performance and project quality issues proactively and promptly.
  • Assign and coordinate tasks among engineering staff and project managers.
  • Manage workload expectations, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely project completion within budget.
  • Oversee staff utilization and accountability towards individual billability goals as per the business plan.
  • Assist in establishing project goals, milestones, and procedures, defining roles and responsibilities, acquiring resources, and monitoring project progress.
  • Act as a technical advisor, providing senior-level input and evaluation on projects.
  • Contribute to the development and management of annual budgets for the Minneapolis Aviation & Federal Global Practice.
  • Anticipate and recognize potential problems, balancing risks and opportunities effectively.
  • Conduct mid-year and year-end performance reviews for staff, coordinating with the overall Operations Manager.
  • Review and approve timecards to ensure accurate labor hour reporting.
  • Review and approve PTO requests, coordinating with Project Managers to maintain project schedules.
  • Support sales and marketing initiatives, including staff assignments to proposals and presentations.
  • Assist in the development of Regional Office staff, quality control, and resource coordination.
  • Engage in Business Development activities with clients, with prior experience preferred.
  • Maintain a billable time expectation of 90%.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Previous leadership or management experience is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Ability to positively influence, lead, and manage change effectively.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer is strongly preferred.
  • Prior consulting experience is highly regarded.
