Position Summary:
The Vice President will play a pivotal role in the analysis required for the underwriting of structured financing transactions and managing counterparty risk. Key responsibilities include proactive assessment of Problem Assets, authority for limit approvals, and reporting on capital markets credit risk. This position primarily collaborates with traders, marketers, and various risk and support teams (including Compliance, Finance, and Operations). Candidates typically possess over five years of experience in credit risk management, with essential product knowledge and credit expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with credit underwriting and ongoing portfolio management for Structured Derivatives and Lending exposures within the Global Commodities line of business.
  • Product coverage encompasses Lien Based Hedging, Spark Spread swaps, Natural Gas hedging, and Lending secured by commodities and related contracts, with client sectors including power generation, upstream oil & gas, midstream and downstream energy, and metals & mining.
  • Collaborate closely with both senior and junior members of the GMC Specialty Finance team, as well as other stakeholders within GMC. Coordinate efforts with the Commodities sales & trading team and various Risk partners to promote responsible growth in loan and traded products.
  • Participate in deal screening, term negotiations, due diligence, and the credit committee process. Review and critically assess all transaction elements, including structure, collateral, and cash flow stress analysis. Post-transaction, oversee ongoing deal and portfolio monitoring and exercise credit approval authority for amendments, waivers, renewals, and extensions.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing credit approval memos, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Support periodic reporting, policy updates, risk rating scorecard maintenance, regulatory inquiries, limit requests, and other ad hoc projects.
Required

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in financial services.

Relevant prior experience may include roles in:
credit risk management, credit underwriting, structuring, loan origination, or public rating agencies.

  • Experience reviewing lending or debt transactions, including securitization or collateral-based lending facilities and derivatives.
  • Familiarity with Energy and Commodity industries and related products.
  • Strong analytical skills, personal drive, initiative, urgency, and responsiveness, with a desire to grow, learn, and take on increasing responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of risk, support, and business partners.
  • A collaborative team player, willing to support junior team members as needed.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a quick aptitude for learning new programs and applications.
  • High attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of natural gas, metals & mining, midstream & downstream, and power industries and related products.
  • Formal credit training at a major financial institution.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg.

BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering preferred.
