Position Summary:
The Vice President will play a crucial role in the assessment and management of structured financing transactions and counterparty risk. This position involves proactive analysis of Problem Assets, some authority for limit approvals, and reporting on capital markets credit risk. The Vice President will primarily collaborate with traders, marketers, and various risk and support teams (e.g., Compliance, Finance, Operations).
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with credit underwriting and ongoing portfolio management for Structured Derivatives and Lending exposures within the Global Commodities sector.
  • Oversee product coverage, including Lien Based Hedging, Spark Spread swaps, Natural Gas hedging, and Lending secured by commodities and related contracts, focusing on sectors such as power generation and energy.
  • Collaborate closely with both senior and junior members of the GMC Specialty Finance team, as well as other stakeholders within GMC. Work in tandem with the Commodities sales and trading team and various Risk partners to facilitate responsible growth in loan and traded products.
  • Participate in deal screening, term negotiations, due diligence, and the credit committee process. Review and challenge transaction elements, including structure, collateral, and cashflow stress analysis. Post-transaction, oversee ongoing monitoring and exercise credit approval authority for amendments, waivers, renewals, and extensions.
  • Aid in the preparation and review of credit approval documents, including quantitative and qualitative assessments. Assist with periodic reporting, policy updates, risk rating maintenance, regulatory inquiries, limit requests, and other special projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in the financial services sector.

Relevant Experience May Include:
roles in credit risk management, credit underwriting, structuring, loan origination, or public rating agencies.

  • Experience in reviewing lending or debt transactions, including securitization or collateral-based lending and derivatives.
  • Familiarity with the Energy and Commodity sectors and related products.
  • Strong analytical skills, personal drive, initiative, and a sense of urgency, with a desire to learn and take on greater responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with all levels of risk, support, and business partners.
  • A collaborative team player, willing to support junior team members as needed.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software and applications.
  • High attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the natural gas, metals & mining, midstream & downstream, and power industries and related products.
  • Formal credit training from a major financial institution.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg.
