Job Overview

We are seeking a Safety and Environmental Compliance Specialist for our organization.

Position Title: Safety and Environmental Compliance Specialist

Employment Type: Contract

Compensation: $30/hr - $35/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough field audits and inspections of safety programs and practices at various project sites, ensuring adherence to safety performance standards and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in the pre-qualification and renewal processes for contractors/vendors in our safety database, in alignment with established safety protocols.
  • Identify, assess, and advise on potential hazards to mitigate safety and environmental risks to business operations.
  • Engage in project safety meetings to stay informed about project timelines, priorities, and any emerging safety concerns.
  • Provide regular updates and safety metrics to management and relevant project teams.
  • Participate in investigations of safety incidents and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective measures.
  • Deliver ongoing training and safety guidance to project teams and contractors regarding safety expectations and procedures.
  • Facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions on various health and safety topics.
  • Ensure project compliance with applicable regulations upon completion.
  • Foster positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in safety and environmental consulting, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications such as OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of relevant safety and environmental legislation and processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various electronic recordkeeping systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to analyze and interpret technical documents and regulations.
  • Skilled in writing safety reports and procedural documentation.
  • Capable of providing guidance and coaching in the face of noncompliance or unsafe conditions.
  • Adept at presenting information and responding to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
  • Experience in theme park or amusement park environments is highly desirable.
