Under the guidance of the EHS Manager, the EHS Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering exceptional Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance within the organization. This position entails overseeing EHS initiatives and ensuring adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations, while enhancing performance through mentoring, coaching, and training across all organizational levels.

Your Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and implementation of effective EHS programs that guarantee compliance with applicable regulations and policies concerning safety and environmental stewardship.

Maintain all necessary environmental permits associated with processes, equipment, or discharges generated at the facility, including the management of hazardous and universal waste.

Provide expert guidance and support to management on EHS matters, collaborating closely with employees at all levels to establish, maintain, and enhance EHS programs.

Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the equipment and materials utilized within the facility, including pollution control technologies.

Promptly inform the EHS Manager and relevant operations supervisors of potential compliance issues, incidents, or malfunctions of control devices.

Assist in the timely preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies as needed.

Develop and implement procedures and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) aimed at mitigating safety and environmental risks, as well as addressing emergency situations.

Review materials utilized in manufacturing operations and maintain a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database.

Establish and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system to verify compliance with all relevant regulations.

Ensure that responsible parties are promptly notified of EHS concerns and that immediate action is taken.

As necessary, engage and oversee vendors and contractors addressing EHS issues.

Participate in training sessions, meetings, and seminars to enhance proficiency in EHS disciplines.

Design and deliver EHS-related training programs to ensure employees are knowledgeable about environmental regulations and requirements.

Oversee the operation, testing, and record-keeping of Fire Protection Systems, implementing elements of the Fire Prevention Plan.

Assist with annual property inspections and maintain associated records.

Manage spill response and containment efforts as required.

Administer the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) for the organization.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (Preferred Major: Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field)

Knowledge and/or Training:
Hazardous Waste Management, Accident Prevention, Environmental Legislation, First Aid, ISO 14001 Auditor, OSHA Regulations, Risk Assessment.

Skills:
