Health and Safety Manager for the Western Region
As a pivotal member of our Health and Safety Department, you will contribute to the expansion of our services in support of engineering design, environmental consulting, and construction management across the western United States. Our clientele encompasses a wide array of industrial, institutional, and governmental organizations that rely on us to tackle their most pressing environmental and civil infrastructure challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Senior Health and Safety Manager, your role will involve providing comprehensive health and safety and environmental compliance support for various projects and operational activities. You will serve as a subject matter expert on health and safety and environmental compliance issues, working closely with project managers to develop and implement safety plans that meet client and regulatory expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating the regional application of Geosyntec's health and safety and environmental management systems.
- Assisting in the evaluation and enhancement of the firm’s health and safety compliance performance.
- Developing and executing written program components, procedures, and policies at Geosyntec facilities.
- Reviewing and creating project-specific health and safety plans and documentation.
- Interpreting contract specifications and ensuring compliance with safety provisions.
- Identifying and addressing office-specific health and safety hazards.
- Conducting site visits and audits to provide technical support for project operations.
- Leading training initiatives to enhance awareness and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Supporting incident investigations to determine root causes and mitigation strategies.
- Promoting the company's health surveillance and training programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or related technical field, combined with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience as a health and safety professional, is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are preferred.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a proven track record in health and safety compliance within construction or environmental consulting contexts.
