The position of Radar and Geophysical Systems Specialist at VerQuin Geodetic Engineering involves a diverse range of responsibilities that span across engineering disciplines, geology, geophysics, geodesy, radar technology, data management, software development, remote sensing, and electrical engineering. This role is pivotal in both field engineering and research within the physical sciences.

As a radar specialist, your primary focus will be on the calibration and validation processes essential for upcoming missions, utilizing proprietary technology to ensure accurate radar measurements and improve satellite data precision. In your capacity as a geophysical engineer, you will oversee the implementation of reconnaissance projects, installations, telemetry systems, airborne lidar data collection, RTK analysis, and drone imaging operations. This role necessitates the integration of various datasets, analysis of positional time series, quality control, and troubleshooting novel challenges in geophysical engineering.

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to independently devise, develop, and execute solutions for intricate radar and geophysical equipment challenges, employing both established methodologies and innovative internal processes. This position entails hands-on field construction tasks, requiring the use of power tools and the analytical skills of a seasoned physical scientist. You will ensure that all engineering activities comply with high technical and organizational standards while actively contributing to advanced research and development aligned with the company’s goals.

Your responsibilities will include leading site selection and overseeing the construction of new radar calibration and validation equipment, as well as geophysical installations. You will manage subcontractors, including drillers and mechanical engineers, while also participating in extensive domestic and international field campaigns to guarantee mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Radar Technology Development: Lead or contribute to the advancement of radar technology for remote deployments.
  • Calibration and Validation: Collaborate on the integration of radar data and imagery to enhance accuracy.
  • cGNSS Network Development: Coordinate reconnaissance and installation of cGNSS systems.
  • Software Implementation: Serve as the technical lead for software integration within company systems.
  • Equipment Configuration and Testing: Oversee the configuration and quality assessment of geophysical equipment.
  • Liaison with Agencies: Act as a point of contact for federal and international stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Manage complex geophysical projects, including logistics and data flow.
  • Geological Assessments: Conduct assessments for new installations, ensuring stability and design integrity.
  • Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive project documentation and reports.
  • Field Preparation: Lead the preparation and testing of equipment for fieldwork.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with extensive experience, or a Master's/Ph.D. with lesser experience.
  • Preferred professional certifications and security clearance.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform fieldwork involving physical exertion and mobility.
  • Capacity to lift and carry equipment as needed.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for field assignments.
