Position Overview:
The Geophysical Radar Specialist role integrates a diverse set of responsibilities spanning engineering, geology, geophysics, geodesy, radar technology, data management, software engineering, remote sensing, and electrical engineering.

This position entails both field engineering and research within the physical sciences.

Key Responsibilities:
As a radar specialist, your primary focus will be on calibration and validation methodologies for upcoming missions, utilizing proprietary equipment to guarantee accurate radar readings and improve satellite data precision.

In your capacity as a geophysical engineer, you will oversee the execution of cGNSS reconnaissance, installations, telemetry, airborne lidar data collection, RTK analysis, and drone imaging.

This role requires the integration of various datasets, analysis of positional time series, quality control, and troubleshooting innovative challenges in geophysical engineering.

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to independently devise, develop, and execute solutions for intricate radar and geophysical equipment-related engineering challenges, employing both established methodologies and the creation of internal processes.

This position necessitates hands-on field construction using power tools and demands the analytical skills of a seasoned physical scientist.

Moreover, you will ensure that all engineering tasks comply with high technical and organizational standards while actively participating in pioneering research and development aligned with the organization's goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Radar Technology Development: Lead or contribute to the advancement of radar technology for SAR/NISAR corner reflectors utilized in remote and challenging environments.
  • Calibration and Validation: Collaborate with team members on the collection and integration of radar data, InSAR imagery, cGNSS positions, Lidar, RTK measurements, and calibration hardware to minimize errors and enhance imagery quality.

cGNSS Network Development:
Conduct reconnaissance, liaise with stakeholders for land access, and oversee the configuration and preparation of materials and electronics for cGNSS installations.

  • Software Implementation: Serve as the technical lead for the deployment of software on the organization's VPN and data systems, including GIS tools and radar data.

Sensor Systems Design:
Design and test sophisticated telemetry and geophysical sensor systems, ensuring their integration into larger systems with varying security requirements.

  • Project Management: Manage and implement diverse geophysical projects, including logistics, site selection, installation, maintenance, and data flow.
  • Geological Assessments: Contribute to geological evaluations for new installations, ensuring stability and design integrity.
  • Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive technical documentation, process designs, and necessary reports.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves fieldwork that may require climbing, kneeling, and handling sensitive equipment in various terrains. The ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds is necessary, with assistance available for heavier loads.

Travel Expectations:
Travel is anticipated to comprise approximately 30-45% of the role, with arrangements typically scheduled in advance.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, geophysics, or a related field is required, with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience. Advanced degrees and certifications are preferred.

Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in additional languages considered advantageous.
