Position Summary:
This role emphasizes software development, focusing on the design, implementation, and automation testing of embedded and systems software. Our product features a networked array of embedded systems that deliver computational resources, wireless communication, video processing, and wired networking on a tailored hardware platform. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in wireless communication systems, networking, computer architecture, and hardware integration, along with expertise in Real-time Operating Systems and proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages.

Initial Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with our distributed sensor network.
  • Understand our controller software and integrate into our ecosystem and codebase.
  • Acquire a thorough knowledge of retail terminology and associated challenges.
  • Develop application and systems code for embedded devices operating on embedded Linux systems.
  • Identify and resolve bugs, contributing to the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Progressive Responsibilities:

  • Enhance application and systems code for embedded devices within embedded Linux environments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during customer implementations.

Long-term Responsibilities:

  • Assume ownership of software modules, demonstrating accountability for their development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Implement algorithms for RFID and other protocols on real-time embedded processors.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages.
  • Strong grasp of real-time operating systems, computer architecture, networking, and wireless communication systems.
  • Extensive experience in developing platforms for system software.
  • Deep knowledge of MAC Layer software.
  • Experience with ARM platforms and Linux Operating Systems.
  • In-depth understanding of real-time operating systems, including inter-process communications, memory management, and low-level routines.
  • Ability to contribute to the strategic planning of future product generations.
  • Collaborative mindset, working effectively with team members across various engineering disciplines throughout the engineering process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with at least one wireless technology such as RFID, Wi-Fi, LTE, or BLE.
  • Familiarity with Boost.ASIO.
  • Proficient in Golang with demonstrable experience.
  • Experience with Yocto for system building.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless controllers or gateways.
