ABOUT THE ROLEThis role is centered around software development, focusing on the design, implementation, and automation testing of embedded and systems software. Our solution comprises a networked array of embedded systems that deliver computing power, wireless communication, video capture, and wired networking on a bespoke hardware platform. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in wireless communication systems, networking, computer architecture, and hardware integration, along with a solid grasp of Real-time Operating Systems and proficiency in Python and Golang.
In your first 30 days, you will:- Familiarize yourself with our distributed sensor network.
- Understand our controller software and become acquainted with our ecosystem and codebase.
- Gain insights into the terminology and challenges of the retail sector.
- Develop application and systems code for embedded devices, working within embedded Linux environments.
- Identify and resolve bugs, contributing to the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Continue writing application and systems code for embedded devices, enhancing your skills in embedded Linux systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during customer deployments.
- Assume ownership of specific software modules, demonstrating accountability for their development.
- Collaborate closely with team members across various engineering disciplines, engaging in all phases of the engineering process, including analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
- Implement algorithms for RFID and other protocols on a real-time embedded processor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in embedded software engineering.
- Proficiency in Golang and Python, with familiarity in C and C++.
- Strong understanding of real-time operating systems, computer architecture, networking, and wireless communication systems.
- Extensive experience in developing platforms for embedded system software.
- Deep knowledge of access controls, system software related to memory management, debugging tools, and process management.
- Solid understanding of the Linux operating system.
- Ability to conceptualize high-level designs for embedded systems.
- In-depth knowledge of networking, including packet and header structures in major network protocols.
- Capability to contribute to the planning of future product generations.
- Experience collaborating with team members from diverse engineering backgrounds throughout the engineering process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with at least one wireless technology such as RFID, Wi-Fi, LTE, or BLE.
- Demonstrated breadth of expertise through involvement in multiple projects.
- Familiarity with Yocto and experience in utilizing it for system builds.
- Experience working with ARM platforms.
- Hands-on experience with projects related to wireless controllers or gateways.
