Position Summary:
The Animal Emergency & Referral Associates is seeking a passionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to support our Oncology department. This role is essential in providing comprehensive assistance to our Specialists in diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Specialist with consultations and procedures, ensuring smooth appointment scheduling and effective communication with the department.
  • Coordinate with Imaging and Anesthesia services for diagnostics and procedures.
  • Provide nursing support for treatment and diagnostic requests.
  • Administer injectable chemotherapeutics based on patient needs.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood and urine.
  • Utilize imaging modalities for patient assessment and treatment.
  • Monitor and recover patients from sedation and anesthesia.
  • Accurately calculate and deliver anesthetic agents and fluids.
  • Perform patient assessments, including vital signs and IVC placements.
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and communicate changes in patient status.
  • Ensure a clean and comfortable environment for all patients.
  • Set up and maintain necessary equipment, demonstrating knowledge of monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Provide basic client education on various topics as directed by the Specialist.
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff on procedures and technical skills.
  • Cross-train to assist in other hospital areas as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and sanitation practices.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and equipment.
  • Ability to calculate dosages accurately.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency response techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
