Compensation: Starting at $25/hour for Credentialed Technicians, with experienced Credentialed Technicians earning between $28 and $32/hour, based on skills and experience.
Position Overview:
The role is designed to provide essential support to the Specialist in diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, ensuring optimal care for our patients. Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness are crucial. Effective communication with doctors and colleagues is necessary to maintain accuracy and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Specialist with incoming consultations and procedures, including managing appointment schedules and liaising with departments.
- Coordinate diagnostics and procedures with Imaging and Anesthesia services.
- Provide nursing support to specialists for treatment or diagnostic requests.
- Conduct patient assessments, obtain vital signs, perform IVC placements, phlebotomy, intubations, administer injections, and assist with radiology and laboratory tasks.
- Accurately record and communicate patient information in medical records.
- Maintain a clean and comfortable environment for all patients.
- Set up and maintain medical equipment, ensuring proper use and care.
- Safely restrain patients and prepare medications as prescribed.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens as required.
- Assist with patient euthanasia and aftercare in a compassionate manner.
- Provide basic client education on nutrition, home care, and post-operative care.
- Restock and maintain cleanliness in specialty department areas.
- Train less experienced staff on policies and technical skills.
- Cross-train to assist in various hospital areas as needed.
Experience & Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
- Ability to perform all key responsibilities of a Veterinary Technician Assistant.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and sanitation practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and equipment.
- Ability to calculate dosages and administer injections accurately.
- Understanding of CPR and rescue breathing techniques.
- Capability to follow directions and anticipate the needs of the medical team.
- Ability to remain calm and react appropriately in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good personal grooming and hygiene.
- Team-oriented attitude with a focus on fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Physical capability to lift and handle animals weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree and/or Technician Certification preferred.
