Job Summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team. As a key member of our team, you will provide primary support to our Specialists with diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the flow of appointment schedules and communicate with department liaisons to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Coordinate diagnostics and procedures with Imaging and Anesthesia services to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide nursing skills and support to Specialists with treatment or diagnostic requests, including patient assessment, vital data collection, and medication administration.
  • Record and communicate patient information accurately into patient medical records, ensuring timely and effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a clean, dry, and comfortable environment for all patients, adhering to strict sanitation and sterilization protocols.
  • Set up and maintain equipment as needed, demonstrating knowledge of use and care of monitoring and diagnostic equipment.
  • Safely and effectively restrain patients, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by doctors, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Collect, prepare, label, and test laboratory specimens as needed, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Provide assistance with patient euthanasia and aftercare of remains in a timely manner, demonstrating compassion and empathy.
  • Suture removals, ear cleaning, and nail trims, providing exceptional patient care and attention to detail.
  • Provide basic client education on nutrition, home care, medication administration, and post-operative care, promoting patient understanding and compliance.
  • Restock and maintain cleanliness of specialty department areas, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Train less experienced staff members on policies, procedures, technical skills, and medical information, promoting knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Cross-train to assist in other areas of the hospital as needed, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician.
  • Ability to perform all key responsibilities of a Technician Assistant, including patient care, medication administration, and laboratory procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and acceptable sanitation and sterilization practices, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Comprehension of commonly used medical terminology and equipment, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to calculate accurate dosages and injections, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Familiarity with CPR and rescue breathing, ensuring prompt and effective response to emergencies.
  • Ability to take direction from a variety of people under various situations and accurately follow instructions, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.
  • Capability of anticipating needs of Doctors and Nurses and showing initiative, promoting a proactive and patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to react quickly and appropriately during emergency situations, remaining calm under pressure and prioritizing patient safety.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, promoting effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Good grooming and hygiene, adhering to strict standards of professionalism and appearance.
  • Must have a team-oriented attitude and promote a positive culture, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • Considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with clients affected by a variety of problems, promoting empathy and understanding.
  • Ability to work with and without direct supervision, demonstrating independence and self-motivation.
  • Capability to kneel, bend, and lift various sizes of animals onto treatment tables, without assistance at times (50 lbs), prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's and/or Technician Certification preferred, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
