Job Summary:
The Overnight Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Emergency Room (ER) veterinarians by delivering high-quality care to our patients during nighttime hours. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and patient care while effectively communicating with the veterinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate care to incoming emergency cases and hospitalized patients, including triage and patient assessment.
- Perform essential procedures such as IVC placement, phlebotomy, intubations, and administering injections.
- Conduct radiology and laboratory tests, as well as assist with basic anesthesia procedures.
- Administer first aid and monitor the status of critical and intensive care patients.
- Document patient information accurately in medical records and communicate updates to the veterinary team.
- Ensure a clean and comfortable environment for all patients and maintain equipment as required.
- Assist in training less experienced staff and cross-train in various hospital areas as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
- Proficient in performing the key responsibilities of a Veterinary Technician.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and sanitation practices.
- Ability to calculate dosages and administer medications accurately.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Capability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree or Technician Certification preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly wage starting at $25 for Credentialed Technicians, with experienced professionals earning between $28 and $32 per hour.
