Job Overview

Position Summary

The Project Operations Manager will supervise the activities related to Field Services and Installation for various projects, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. This role will oversee a team that includes Field Service Technicians, Installation Technicians, a Field Services Coordinator, and an Installation Project Manager. This is an exempt role, not eligible for overtime compensation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, and timelines to ensure compliance with delivery targets.
  • Lead and manage the Project Management and Field Service teams to achieve project goals and align with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with department managers, including electrical, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, as well as sourcing, materials management, sales management, and production staff.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards throughout all projects.
  • Oversee assigned installation projects as required.
  • Maintain and communicate accurate project forecasts and timelines to department heads.
  • Manage labor resources weekly to optimize manpower allocation.
  • Coordinate with the project management team as necessary for additional support.
  • Provide guidance and training to Project Managers, Coordinators, Installers, and Field Service Technicians to uphold project standardization.
  • Participate in ongoing training relevant to industry practices and standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and calendar entries are maintained in project management software.
  • Make daily operational decisions for the installation and service departments.
  • Prepare costing reports for various projects.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource for all project-related inquiries.
  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting as required on job sites.
  • Travel for site visits and contractor meetings may be necessary.
  • Standard working hours are daytime, Monday through Friday, with potential for additional hours as project demands dictate.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on collaboration across teams.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including internet usage, mobile devices, Autodesk software (Inventor, Vault), Salesforce/CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams with both direct and indirect reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an engineering mindset being advantageous.

Education and Licensing Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, ideally in Project Management, Business, or Communication, or
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant project management experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of 6 CEUs in Project Management, Construction, or AIA within the last two years is a plus.
