Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineer at PDG, your role encompasses:
- Designing comprehensive electrical systems for both new constructions and renovations, covering power, lighting, fire alarm, and specialized systems.
- Delegating tasks, coordinating efforts, and reviewing the work of junior engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Assisting in the development of project schedules and workload management for entry-level team members.
- Editing specifications derived from standard libraries.
- Receiving general oversight of all facets of your work.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A robust understanding of electrical circuit theory and design.
- In-depth knowledge of building power distribution systems.
- Expertise in computer network systems and related communication infrastructures.
- Advanced comprehension of signals and controls.
- Proficient technical report writing skills with fluency in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code (N.E.C. / NFPA 70).
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Experience with lighting technologies applicable to buildings.
Experience, Education, and Certification
The following qualifications are required:
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
- Completion of the Professional Engineering (PE) requirements in New York State, or the ability to fulfill these within one year of obtaining an EIT.
- A valid NYS DMV Driver's License.
- A minimum of six years of experience in designing building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and specialized systems.
Work Environment
The role may involve occasional travel to various project sites and client interactions.
Physical Demands
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer and travel within New York State.
