Position Overview

The University of New Mexico is actively seeking an Epileptologist to enhance our esteemed Neurology department. This role involves collaborating with a dedicated team of professionals to deliver exceptional patient care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Clinical Duties:
Responsibilities will encompass coverage and on-call duties for adult neurology inpatient services, managing outpatient neurology clinics, and interpreting both inpatient and outpatient adult electroencephalograms (EEGs).

Academic Responsibilities:
Engagement in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows is a key component of this position.

Research Opportunities:
Involvement in clinical trials and research initiatives within the department is encouraged.

About the Institution:
The University of New Mexico Hospital serves as the primary tertiary care facility in the state, recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a NAEC level 4 epilepsy center. Our Neurology department comprises 45 full-time and part-time attending physicians and supports a robust Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD Degree or equivalent
  • Board certified or eligible in Neurology
  • Completion of Adult Neurology Residency training prior to the start date
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in New Mexico
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of clinical experience in managing neurology patients
  • A proven commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, along with experience working in diverse communities
