Position Overview:

At the University of New Mexico, we uphold a tradition of inclusivity and recognize that our success hinges on continual renewal. The School of Medicine and Health Sciences Center is in search of a candidate who will actively contribute to the climate of diversity and inclusivity within the Division of Urogynecology. This is a full-time faculty position available at an open rank within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Urogynecology Division boasts an established fellowship, a robust clinical practice, and a commitment to research and education.

The successful candidate will engage in clinical teaching and research at various clinics. The Division hosts an accredited Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship, aimed at training well-rounded subspecialist physicians who are proficient in the surgical anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the pelvic floor. Under the mentorship of our faculty, fellows will develop expertise in teaching and research related to pelvic floor disorders, aiding in the cultivation of successful academic careers. The Division of Urogynecology also operates a dedicated pessary clinic, focusing on the care of women with prolapse and incontinence who prefer non-surgical interventions for pelvic floor dysfunction. Furthermore, the Division welcomes innovative research opportunities, supported by a team of research coordinators.

We seek a highly motivated and well-trained physician with a focus on academia. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to the education and surgical training of medical students, residents, and fellows in various settings, including clinics, classrooms, and operating rooms, while providing additional surgical training opportunities. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as experience working with diverse communities, is essential.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • M.D. or D.O. degree or equivalent
  • Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico, State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification, and federal DEA registration
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching students and residents
  • MIGS Certification
  • Clinical skills and scholarly activity
  • Experience in a managed care environment
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary setting
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as experience working with diverse communities.
