Role Summary:
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) plays a pivotal role in overseeing patient care and clinical operations across the organization. This position is responsible for guiding the clinical team, shaping quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute clinical strategies aimed at improving patient care and service efficiency.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish organizational objectives and align clinical practices with the clinic's mission.
- Supervise the adoption of innovative healthcare technologies.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and standards.
- Lead initiatives focused on quality enhancement to improve patient outcomes and safety.
- Evaluate clinical performance and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Oversee the quality and coordination of clinical services within White Bird Clinic.
- Provide direct clinical supervision to Associate Medical Directors.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse and skilled clinical workforce.
- Conduct performance assessments and support ongoing professional development.
- Manage patient care activities to guarantee high-quality, patient-centered services.
- Address patient inquiries and ensure effective resolution of issues.
- Promote patient education and preventive health measures.
- Participate in budget planning to allocate resources effectively for clinical services.
- Monitor clinical spending and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining care quality.
- Seek and manage funding opportunities to support clinical initiatives.
- Build and nurture relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Represent the clinic in community discussions and advocate for public health initiatives.
- Collaborate with external organizations to enhance service delivery and community health outcomes.
- Facilitate clinical research initiatives to advance medical knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards in research practices.
- Advise on information system requirements and analyze clinical data.
- Promote effective use of electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technologies.
- Serve as a liaison to local and state professional organizations.
- Report to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on clinical operations and quality initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD/DO) licensed to practice in Oregon with a current DEA Controlled Substance Certificate.
- Certification as a Medicare and Medicaid provider.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical practice.
- A strong commitment to community health and public health initiatives.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in primary care or emergency medicine.
- Proficient in Microsoft 360 Suite and experienced with Electronic Health Records.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Prior experience in an administrative role.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an administrative team.
- Experience working with underserved populations.
- 6-10 years of medical practice experience.

Compensation:
This is an exempt position with a competitive salary range starting at $200,000 to $250,000 annually, based on experience.
