Job Overview

Ross Downing Chevrolet, Inc. is in search of a dedicated Automotive Buying Manager to lead our vehicle procurement initiatives. The successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing the acquisition process, collaborating with administrative teams, enhancing auction strategies, and fostering robust industry connections to maintain a diverse and premium vehicle inventory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with each dealership location to strategically source vehicles from online and in-person auctions, as well as other credible channels, ensuring a comprehensive inventory that aligns with customer preferences.
  • Coordinate with administrative personnel to guarantee precise and prompt documentation of all vehicle acquisitions within reporting systems, upholding transparency and accuracy in inventory management.
  • Assist in streamlining and enhancing auction operations, including logistics, paperwork, and bidding tactics, to optimize efficiency and profitability in vehicle purchases.
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members across various departments to organically enhance the vehicle acquisition process, promoting collaboration and synergy.
  • Expand and strengthen connections within the automotive sector to identify new opportunities for vehicle procurement, while staying informed about market trends and advancements.
  • Exhibit flexibility and responsiveness to evolving market conditions, willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary to support the wholesale department's success and growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of the automotive market, including vehicle sourcing, pricing strategies, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the capability to establish and sustain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, committed to maintaining accuracy and integrity in inventory management practices.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in automotive sales, wholesale operations, and dealership management.
