Position Overview:

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will provide essential support in a non-hospital environment, delivering short-term assistance aimed at facilitating access to services and stabilization to avert emergency department visits and acute psychiatric hospitalizations.

This role is designed for adults (18 years and older) experiencing mental health crises or co-occurring disorders, ensuring they receive the necessary care and support during their time of need.

Team Role Summary:

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist is a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, offering education, rehabilitation, and support to individuals in crisis.

This position embodies hope, as it involves sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire clients currently facing challenges.


Work Environment:

Work is conducted in a specialized unit designed for comfort and safety, with operations running around the clock.

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist must ensure consistent coverage, regardless of external circumstances.


Key Responsibilities:

This job description is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned by supervisors as necessary.

  • Engage in crisis planning and provide one-on-one counseling as needed.
  • Respond promptly to all communications within two business days.
  • Complete daily assigned tasks and documentation in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintain a structured daily schedule to promote client progress.

Documentation:

Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, including timely completion of group logs and progress notes.


Team Collaboration:

Maintain punctuality and a strong attendance record.

Foster effective communication with team members to provide safe and supportive care.

Approach conflicts with a problem-solving mindset, promoting a positive work environment.

A valid driver's license and appropriate endorsements are required.


Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and education.


Schedule:

Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with potential for overnight shifts and holiday work.

Regular attendance is a critical component of this role.


Travel Requirements:

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary for conducting work-related duties.

Transportation of clients may be required.


Technology Skills:

Proficiency in computer use is essential, with the ability to learn and utilize electronic medical records systems.


Qualifications:

High School Diploma is required, along with lived experience in behavioral health services or recovery.

A Bachelor's degree in a health-related field is preferred, along with relevant experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges.

Knowledge in cultural diversity, human development, and crisis intervention is beneficial.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain alert and engaged during shifts is mandatory.

Physical tasks may include lifting and moving clients as necessary.

Certification in CPR and First Aid, as well as training in de-escalation techniques, will be provided.
