Regional Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor - Emergency Medical Services

Remote Position

Salary Range: Approximately $100,000 - $110,000+ based on experience

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Regional Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor (RAMS) will oversee the efficient provision of maintenance services across all bases within their designated region, excluding the primary maintenance facilities. The RAMS will recruit and cultivate a team of skilled personnel, establishing safe and effective processes to ensure all aircraft remain in a compliant state of operational readiness. This role includes managing and supervising all out-base maintenance staff, scheduling duties, equipment management, and standardization to uphold the highest safety and quality standards. The RAMS will collaborate closely with the Maintenance Hangar Manager to coordinate both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, which may involve aircraft transfers to the main maintenance facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the scheduling of all out-base maintenance personnel to ensure adequate coverage in line with company policies.
  • Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Hangar Manager to ensure timely execution of all maintenance events requiring aircraft relocation.
  • Develops and maintains a standardized system for out-base operations, including facility layout, equipment, tools, inventory, and communication protocols.
  • Ensures all out-base facilities are equipped with up-to-date technical publications, tools, and equipment compliant with federal regulations and company policies.
  • Conducts regular audits of bases to ensure adherence to safety and standardization policies, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participates in periodic process reviews at all out bases, facilitating the exchange of best practices.
  • Monitors and schedules training requirements for all out-base mechanics.
  • Ensures maintenance areas are kept in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
  • Maintains open communication with base Lead Pilots and Program Managers, engaging in problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluates base mechanic performance, providing necessary training, coaching, and conducting performance assessments.
  • Acts as the primary contact for non-technical maintenance and personnel issues beyond the base mechanics.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Experience under CFR Parts 135, 145, and 133 is preferred.
  • Experience in providing maintenance services in remote or self-sufficient facilities with minimal oversight is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and EMS aviation practices is essential.
  • Maintenance experience with Eurocopter H135, H130, H125/AS350, and Beechcraft King Air B200/90 aircraft is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of aircraft maintenance experience, including supervisory roles, is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to various company bases to oversee maintenance activities is required.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability in leading maintenance operations supporting continuous air ambulance services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Basic computer proficiency (word processing, databases, spreadsheets) is required.

Education:

  • High School diploma is required; some college education is preferred but not mandatory.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSES:

Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is required.

Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate or the ability to obtain IA rating within one year is necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Working Conditions:

  • Regular exposure to standard office noise and moderate mechanical hazards.
  • Occasional exposure to loud aircraft noise and potential chemical hazards.
  • Travel by air or ground may be necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Must comply with FAA drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Visual acuity for reading technical documents and performing hands-on tasks is essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical activities.
