Event Service Attendant

Overview

The Event Service Attendant plays a crucial role in preparing and serving guests during banquet events, ensuring adherence to the hotel's standards for food and beverage quality, presentation, cleanliness, and exceptional hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and comprehend the Banquet Event Order (BEO); execute setup in accordance with the BEO.
  2. Ensure tables in the designated area are set up correctly and uniformly, utilizing clean, pressed linens; spotless silverware; intact china; and clear glassware. Maintain cleanliness and fill table complements such as salt and pepper shakers, sugar containers, and breadbaskets.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the menu for each event and be prepared to explain the main ingredients and preparation methods for each dish served.
  4. Arrive at your assigned station at least 15 minutes before the event begins.
  5. Respond to all guest requests promptly, involving a supervisor when necessary.
  6. Maintain a tidy and organized station throughout the service.
  7. Continuously monitor your assigned area, replenishing drinks and clearing service items according to established protocols.
  8. Ensure guests have everything they require for a pleasant experience.
  9. Follow proper procedures for clearing tables and breaking down trays.
  10. Return all reusable table items and condiments for cleaning and refilling.
  11. Assist the Captain or Manager in setting up buffet and special food service stations.
  12. Support the Captain or Manager in dismantling buffet setups and cleaning equipment.
  13. Set up, serve, and break down coffee breaks, receptions, and other special functions as assigned, adhering to standard procedures.
  14. Manage banquet bar setups, service, and breakdowns as required.
  15. Consistently follow cash handling and guest check procedures.
  16. Return any leftover food to the kitchen, following all sanitation guidelines. Consumption of food or beverages by staff is prohibited without prior approval from the Chef on duty.
  17. Complete assigned side tasks, such as refilling condiments, sorting linens, and cleaning serving equipment.
  18. Assist the steward in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the banquet back hall, linen rack, and storage areas.
  19. Learn and implement all service procedures effectively.
  20. Support colleagues whenever necessary.
  21. Stay informed about hotel events and guests as they relate to your responsibilities.
  22. Maintain responsible alcohol service certification.
  23. Prepare and serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests during banquet events.

Coffee Break Responsibilities

  1. Set up, service, break down, and clean all coffee break areas and carts.
  2. Present each coffee break attractively and ensure cleanliness throughout the day.
  3. Adhere to the timing outlined in the BEO for all breaks.
  4. Prepare beverages according to conference center standards.
  5. Secure all beverage coolers and lockable storage at the end of each shift.
  6. Assist the setup staff as needed.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Previous experience as a banquet server is advantageous. Candidates must be able to follow directions and work well with others. TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certification is required by the first day on the job.
