Event Service Attendant

Overview

The Event Service Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for guests during banquet events, adhering to the highest standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, sanitation, and exceptional hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and comprehend the Banquet Event Order (BEO); execute setup according to the specifications outlined.
  2. Arrange tables in the designated area, ensuring they are set correctly and uniformly with clean, pressed linens, unblemished silverware, intact china, and spotless glassware.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the menu for each event, being able to articulate the primary ingredients and preparation methods for each dish.
  4. Be present at your assigned station at least 15 minutes before the event begins.
  5. Respond promptly to all guest requests, escalating to a supervisor when necessary.
  6. Maintain a tidy and organized station throughout the service.
  7. Continuously monitor your area, replenishing drinks and clearing service items as per established guidelines.
  8. Ensure guests have everything they require for a pleasant experience.
  9. Follow proper procedures for clearing tables and managing tray breakdowns.
  10. Return all reusable items to be cleaned and restocked.
  11. Assist the Captain or Manager in setting up and dismantling buffet and special food service stations.
  12. Execute setups, service, and breakdowns for coffee breaks, receptions, and other special functions as assigned.
  13. Adhere to cash handling and guest check procedures diligently.
  14. Return any leftover food to the kitchen, following all sanitation protocols.
  15. Complete any assigned side tasks, such as restocking condiments and organizing linens.
  16. Support the steward in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the banquet back hall and storage areas.
  17. Learn and implement all service procedures effectively.
  18. Assist colleagues as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  19. Stay informed about hotel events and guests as they relate to your responsibilities.
  20. Maintain certification for responsible alcohol service.
  21. Prepare and serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during banquet events.

Coffee Break Responsibilities

  1. Set up, service, and clean all break areas and coffee break carts.
  2. Present each break attractively and ensure cleanliness throughout the day.
  3. Deliver all breaks within the timeframes specified in the BEO.
  4. Prepare beverages accurately, adhering to conference center standards.
  5. Secure all beverage coolers and lockable storage at the end of each shift.
  6. Assist setup staff as necessary.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Previous experience as a banquet server is advantageous. The ability to follow directions and work well with others is essential. Certification in TIPS, CARE, or an equivalent program is required by the first day of employment.
