Event Service Attendant

Overview

The Event Service Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for guests during banquet events, adhering to the high standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, sanitation, and exceptional hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Thoroughly reviews the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and prepares the setup in accordance with its specifications.
  2. Ensures tables are set correctly and uniformly in the designated area, utilizing clean and pressed linens, spotless silverware, intact china, and clear glassware.
  3. Familiarizes with the menu for each event, able to articulate key ingredients and preparation methods to guests.
  4. Arrives at the assigned station at least 15 minutes before the event begins.
  5. Responds promptly to guest requests, involving a supervisor when necessary.
  6. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the service station throughout the event.
  7. Continuously monitors the assigned area, replenishing drinks and clearing service items as per established guidelines.
  8. Ensures guests have all necessary items for their comfort.
  9. Follows proper procedures for clearing tables and managing service trays.
  10. Returns all reusable items to be cleaned and restocked.
  11. Assists the Captain or Manager in the setup and breakdown of buffet and special food service stations.
  12. Prepares and services coffee breaks, receptions, and other special functions as directed, adhering to standard operating procedures.
  13. Ensures compliance with cash handling and guest check protocols.
  14. Returns any leftover food to the kitchen, following sanitation protocols.
  15. Completes assigned side tasks, such as restocking condiments and organizing service equipment.
  16. Collaborates with the steward to maintain cleanliness in back areas and storage.
  17. Stays informed about hotel events and guest needs as they relate to responsibilities.
  18. Maintains certification for responsible alcohol service.
  19. Prepares and serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during events.

Coffee Break Responsibilities

  1. Sets up, services, and cleans all coffee break areas and carts.
  2. Presents each break attractively and ensures cleanliness throughout the day.
  3. Adheres to the timing outlined in the BEO for all breaks.
  4. Prepares beverages according to conference center standards.
  5. Secures beverage coolers and storage at the end of each shift.
  6. Assists setup staff as needed.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Previous experience as a banquet server is advantageous. Candidates must be able to follow directions and work collaboratively with others. Certification in TIPS, CARE, or an equivalent program is required by the first day of employment.
