Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the New & Used Truck Salesperson is to achieve set sales targets for both new and pre-owned trucks by engaging with current clients and pursuing new business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Two to four years of relevant experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • State Sales License (can be obtained upon hire).
  • State Vehicle Inspector Certification required.
  • Commercial Driver's License (must meet company insurability standards or obtain within six months of hire).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and specify all sold orders for Peterbilt trucks.
  • Identify and secure pricing discounts, promotional programs, and special rebates.
  • Verify pre-bills to ensure specifications meet customer requirements.
  • Assist customers in selecting trucks by asking insightful questions and listening to their needs.
  • Communicate product performance, applications, and benefits effectively.
  • Offer test drives to prospective buyers, ensuring proper identification is obtained.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize dealership sales control and follow-up systems.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local regulations governing retail truck sales.
  • Participate in product and sales training sessions as directed by management.
  • Keep updated on new products, features, and accessories.
  • Ensure all closed deals are handed over to the finance and insurance manager with complete documentation.
  • Prepare sold trucks for customer delivery.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients.
  • Actively seek new customer opportunities.
  • Conduct a minimum of 40 in-person sales contacts monthly and record results.
  • Deliver trucks to customers, ensuring they understand the vehicle's features and warranty.
  • Perform pre-sale and post-sale inspections on units.
  • Introduce customers to parts and service department staff to highlight quality service options.
  • Follow up on all post-delivery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Utilize Hunter Customer Management Systems effectively.
  • Understand truck industry terminology and stay updated on product technology.
  • Recognize the value of used trucks in inventory and ensure collaboration with the used sales manager.
  • Conduct truck deliveries while ensuring customer understanding of operating features.
  • Make sales calls using reliable transportation.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Be able to travel across county and state lines.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies to promote a safe work environment.
