Jacobs Technology oversees the management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations, particularly at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

As part of the Spaceflight Processing Department, you will provide technical leadership for the SLS/Orion Arms and Umbilicals subsystems (AUS), including the development of technical procedures and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:
Achieve system certifications for operations, ultimately overseeing the AUS system console for vehicle tank fill, drain, and launch operations. Ensure technical oversight of new installations and construction activities to confirm compliance with contract specifications.

Develop and implement component and subsystem design verification and acceptance plans, as well as testing methods to validate performance against requirements. This may involve everything from conceptual design to modifications of existing structures or Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Conduct system testing and validation, troubleshoot equipment failures, and analyze technical drawings and schematics to resolve issues and provide documented corrective actions.

Create maintenance procedures to ensure equipment and systems are kept in optimal condition.

Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and safety personnel to coordinate maintenance and operational tasks.

Your responsibilities will also include preparing essential system engineering documentation for a comprehensive and effective system.

Manage planning, cost development, and scheduling for assigned projects, interfacing with client representatives to ensure timely and budget-compliant task completion.

Qualifications:


A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution is required.


This position is open to various experience levels, allowing for consideration of candidates for higher roles based on qualifications.


  • Preferred experience with hydraulic and mechanical equipment design, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Required knowledge of mechanical statics and dynamics.
  • Familiarity with ASME BPVC, ASTM, and MIL-SPEC standards is preferred.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC (RS Logix 5000, PLC/5, Factory Talk View, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Strong writing, communication, presentation, and customer interaction skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must coordinate work across multiple project disciplines.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
  • May need to mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Ability to perform root cause failure analysis at the component level.

Preferred Experience:
Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.

Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems.

Understanding of mechanical statics and dynamics.

Integration of electrical components, including transducers, switches, and solenoid valves.

Familiarity with ASME BPVC, ASTM, and MIL-SPEC standards.

Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC (RS Logix 5000, PLC/5, Factory Talk View, etc.).

Strong writing, communication, presentation, and customer interface skills.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without compromising deadlines or accuracy.

Self-motivated with a proactive approach, capable of working independently or with minimal supervision.

Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.

May provide guidance to junior engineers.

Ability to conduct root cause failure analysis at the component level.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Ability to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.

Must wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other required personal protective equipment.

Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

Physical requirements include:
sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.


Work Environment

Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors across the test complex.

Daily travel to various locations on-site may be required.

Walking on uneven terrain, including paved areas, gravel, and dirt, is necessary to access different facility locations.

Climbing ladders and platforms may be required.

All tasks must be performed safely, adhering to NASA and company safety standards.

Attendance

This is a full-time position with regular hours Monday through Friday.

Occasional overtime, including weekend work, may be necessary based on project needs.

Dependability and punctuality are essential.

Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions

Must effectively communicate ideas both in writing and verbally.

Travel may be necessary to fulfill position requirements, including potential airline travel to customer locations. Accommodations for personal vehicles may be arranged if needed.


Professional appearance and grooming must be maintained, ensuring no safety risks to oneself or others.


Compliance with all drug-free workplace regulations is mandatory, including drug testing for employees in sensitive positions.

Government security clearance may be required in the future.
