The COMET contract oversees the management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations. These initiatives support various programs, including the International Space Station and the Space Launch System.

This role is situated within the Facilities and Mechanical Structures division of COMET Design Engineering. The chosen engineer will be tasked with the design, development, testing, and commissioning of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) while also providing technical guidance to junior engineers and conducting peer reviews of engineering outputs. Responsibilities will encompass the creation of models and drawings, preliminary analyses, design review presentations, and support for manufacturing and operational activities. Depending on project requirements, tasks may range from contributing to conceptual designs to revising existing structures or GSE.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Developing comprehensive system engineering documentation essential for a complete and functional system.

· Implementing design solutions, planning, cost estimation, management, and scheduling for assigned projects.

· Overseeing system activations to ensure compliance with contractual specifications.

· Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or a technical equivalent from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.

Essential Job Requirements

· Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

· Proficient in interfacing with client representatives and ensuring task completion within budget and on schedule.

· Familiarity with CREO Parametric and Windchill is essential.

· Capability to work at elevated heights is required.

· AutoCAD knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.

· Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status is required if offered a position.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.

· Required to wear personal protective equipment, including hearing and eye protection.

· Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

· Must be able to navigate various terrains and access remote structures.

Work Environment

· Required to work both indoors and outdoors across the test complex.

· May involve daily travel to different areas on site.

· Walking on uneven surfaces, including paved areas and natural terrain, is necessary.

· Compliance with safety standards is mandatory.

Equipment and Tools

· Utilization of computers and printers for report generation and scheduling.

· Operation of various testing equipment.

· Full-time work hours with potential for occasional overtime and weekend work.

· Dependability and punctuality are essential.
