Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven individual for the role of Associate Vice President (AVP) in our Clinical Research Practice. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in business development, client relations, project management, and clinical research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the leadership team of the Clinical Research Practice to promote growth and implement initiatives that uphold a culture of quality and excellence.
  • Formulate and execute strategic plans aimed at enhancing the company's clinical research services within HHS agencies.
  • Oversee business development and capture efforts for opportunities within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal entities.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with federal clients to secure new business ventures.
  • Manage large-scale clinical trial support services contracts or multiple smaller projects, including overseeing design, data collection, analysis, and publication.
  • Guide and mentor a team of clinical research professionals, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation while ensuring billability.
  • Collaborate on cross-practice initiatives and serve as a thought leader both internally and externally.
  • Represent Westat at industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to showcase our services and expertise.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biological sciences, clinical research, public health, or a related field; PhD and/or PMP certification preferred.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in project and team leadership within clinical research.
  • Proven success in business development within government contracting, particularly with NIH and/or FDA.
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. government regulatory compliance, including Human Subjects Protections and Good Clinical Practice.
  • Experience in mentoring research staff at various levels.

This Associate Vice President position is recognized as a thought leader in Clinical Research. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple complex business activities simultaneously.
