The Vice President of Site Operations will oversee comprehensive operational management for the facility, ensuring the long-term strategic vision is met while enhancing the site's role within the broader manufacturing network of the organization.
This executive will hold ultimate accountability for all functions related to the production of bulk drug substances and will act as a pivotal member of the Senior Leadership Team. Key areas of responsibility include: manufacturing processes; two distinct production streams; biopharmaceutical technology; supply chain management; environmental health and safety; engineering operations; quality assurance; and the GSK production system. Support functions such as IT, Finance, and Human Resources will also play a critical role in these operations. The ability to engage in forward-thinking strategic business planning and effective decision-making is essential for success in this position.
Detailed Responsibilities:- Lead and guide the Senior Leadership Team at the site.
- Oversee a workforce exceeding 550 personnel, including 9 direct reports.
- Provide strategic oversight and direction across all site functions to ensure effective Strategy Deployment and achievement of critical business goals.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessment and management to ensure operational continuity.
- Develop and implement strategies for manufacturing outsourcing and fill/finish operations.
- Offer strategic guidance to materials management and planning functions to ensure optimal inventory management in support of production activities.
- Maintain all site operations in compliance with regulatory standards and readiness for inspections.
- Oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse workforce, including succession planning and talent management initiatives.
- Engage actively in governance bodies responsible for overseeing development and operational strategies for the Biopharm Supply Chain.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering).
- Proven experience leading a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
- Experience in large molecule drug substance production, including biopharmaceuticals and vaccines.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in maintaining and enhancing environmental health and safety and quality standards.
- Proven track record of fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Experience in developing diverse teams and enhancing talent capabilities within the organization.
- Ability to engage and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
- Experience in establishing and improving operational and annual performance metrics.
- Prior experience as a Site Quality Head is advantageous.
