Position Overview

As a Senior Applied Scientist within the Conversational AI Modeling and Learning (CAMEL) team, you will play a pivotal role in the Amazon Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) organization. Our goal is to develop an exceptional Conversational AI that is not only intelligent but also highly responsive. You will contribute to the creation of advanced Large Language Models (LLM) solutions that enhance the model's capabilities and integrate with numerous APIs and external knowledge sources to optimize user experiences for millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize your expertise to lead efforts in addressing complex challenges, collaborating with fellow scientists and engineers to innovate LLM modeling and engineering techniques.
  • Analyze and enhance user experiences by leveraging Amazon's diverse data sources and extensive computing resources.
  • Engage in core LLM technologies, including Prompt Engineering, Model Fine-Tuning, and Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF).
  • Directly impact customer experiences through the development of novel products and services.
Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD with 3+ years of applied science experience in industry applications, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++.
  • Extensive experience with modeling languages and tools, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn.
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong foundation in machine learning and familiarity with standard techniques in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Natural Language Generation (NLG), and LLM.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD specializing in machine learning, deep learning, or natural language processing.
  • 4+ years of experience in developing conversational AI or NLP systems.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed conferences related to NLP/ML.
  • Proven track record of innovation and contributions to the field.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop or Spark.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
