Senior Research Scientist in Generative AI

About the Role: Meta is on the lookout for a Senior Research Scientist to become a vital part of our innovative Large Language Model (LLM) Research team. We seek distinguished professionals in generative AI and natural language processing (NLP), possessing expertise in various domains such as language model assessment, data management for pretraining and fine-tuning, ethical considerations in LLMs, alignment of LLMs, reinforcement learning for optimizing language models, and efficient training and inference methodologies. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advancing scientific knowledge to enhance the development and deployment of large language models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and collaborate on pioneering research that advances the frontiers of large language model technology.
  • Contribute directly to experimental designs, including crafting detailed methodologies, developing reusable code, conducting evaluations, and organizing findings.
  • Engage with a diverse and globally distributed team.
  • Participate in scholarly publications and initiatives for open-source contributions.
  • Assist in defining ambitious long-term research objectives alongside achievable intermediate goals.
  • Focus on research that can be integrated into Meta's product innovation.
  • Foster healthy collaboration across various functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or holding a PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in software development and executing complex experiments with large AI models and datasets.
  • Background in creating interactive solutions for computer vision, natural language processing, or computer graphics.
  • Direct involvement in generative AI and LLM research.
  • Eligibility for work authorization in the employment country at the time of hire, with ongoing maintenance of work authorization throughout employment.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, with completion required prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 2 years of experience in a university or industry research lab, primarily focused on AI research.
  • Experience as a first author on publications at respected peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging applications in Python.
  • Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
