We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced science leader to join our Conversational AI Modeling and Learning team at Amazon Services LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of scientists to develop and fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) for conversational AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of scientists and engineers to develop and deploy LLMs for conversational AI applications.
  • Develop and execute technical strategies to improve the performance and scalability of our LLMs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate LLMs into our conversational AI products and services.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in LLMs and natural language processing and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our products and services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
  • 5+ years of experience in building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading teams of scientists or machine learning engineers.
  • Solid technical background in natural language processing and LLMs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to a variety of audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, or mathematics with specialization in machine learning, deep learning, or natural language processing.
  • 3+ years of experience in building conversational AI and/or natural language processing systems.
  • Project management experience working on cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to work well with people and help achieve stretch goals in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
  • Publications at peer-reviewed NLP/ML conferences.
