Job Overview

unWired Broadband is in search of a detail-oriented and communicative Technical Support Specialist to enhance our Operations division. Reporting directly to the IT Manager, this role is pivotal in delivering technical assistance to all staff members while overseeing the upkeep and functionality of the company's computer systems and telecommunication networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist end-users with issues related to hardware, software, and network systems. This includes diagnosing problems, identifying root causes, and resolving or escalating them as necessary.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices, ensuring optimal performance and connectivity.
  • Oversee the management of all company mobile devices, including the assignment of permissions and access to company networks, while documenting and monitoring data usage.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including wired and wireless connections, and configure network settings to resolve errors.
  • Install, configure, and update software applications, operating systems, and drivers on user devices, ensuring compatibility and resolving conflicts.
  • Create and manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions across various systems, ensuring appropriate access rights.
  • Monitor data backups and system configurations to safeguard against data loss due to hardware failures or security breaches.
  • Implement security measures, including antivirus software, to protect devices from malware and other threats, while educating users on best practices.
  • Manage RFID badge systems for employees and vendors, ensuring proper functionality and security.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of technical procedures, known issues, and resolutions for future reference.
  • Provide remote support to users via phone, messaging applications, email, or remote desktop tools.
  • Set up and install telephony hardware, configuring and troubleshooting VoIP systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate or associate degree in IT, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of one year of hands-on experience in application installation, hardware management, and troubleshooting.
  • Preferred certifications include Microsoft and/or PC certifications (A+, Network+, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and Mac OS.
  • Experience with software installation and support, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with iOS and Android operating systems, including MDM experience.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (LAN and WAN) and information security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both software and hardware issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a shared leadership environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on timely resolution.
  • Interpersonal skills that foster conflict resolution and maintain confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of work.
