Position Objective

The role of the Educational Support Specialist is to create a nurturing and engaging educational atmosphere that encourages students to reach their academic aspirations. The in-person specialist will also offer continuous feedback and assistance to empower students in overcoming obstacles and enhancing their self-assurance in their capabilities. The ultimate aim is to cultivate critical thinking abilities, academic proficiency, and a passion for learning that benefits students in all aspects of their lives.

Key Responsibilities (Some may vary by program)

The Educational Support Specialist will:

  • Engage with students in a structured educational setting (In-Person Educational Support Specialist)
  • Guide students in effectively navigating their personalized learning plans
  • Provide constructive reinforcement as students make progress and meet objectives, along with supportive guidance and instruction when challenges arise.
  • Comply with all communication protocols established by StudentNest, including prompt responses to emails and texts during working hours and timely submission of reports for each student interaction.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the business casual dress code.
  • Demonstrate reliability in attendance according to the tutoring schedule and adhere to company communication protocols regarding attendance.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of experience in tutoring, coaching, teaching, or mentoring adolescents.
  • An Associate degree or equivalent college credits. (The educational requirement may be waived based on exceptional experience in teaching and/or tutoring youth).
  • Proficiency in utilizing standard technology tools such as Microsoft Office, G-Suite, Zoom, etc.
  • Successful completion of FBI/DOJ Background check to meet school district requirements.
  • Ability to effectively engage with students in an in-person educational environment.
  • Strong written communication skills for completing student progress reports and corresponding with staff and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Over two years of experience in academic tutoring.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities (especially in Spanish).

Additional Information

  • Compensation: $24 per hour
  • Work Location: In-Person
  • We provide paid training and opportunities to acquire new skills with software, such as Microsoft Teams or Lotus Learning.
  • Typically, you will work with the same students on a daily basis, making the ability to build rapport and establish trust with youth essential. Patience and a genuine passion for teaching are crucial.
