Job Overview

The Flex Company is in search of a skilled Product Development Manager with a proven track record in launching innovative products and medical devices. This position will oversee various elements of our product development operations, guiding a clearly defined product from initial concept through to market introduction while offering technical insights and exceptional project management to deliver cutting-edge and market-leading solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the product development pipeline, ensuring systematic design reviews and successful product launches within specified timelines. This includes evaluating manufacturers, developing schedules, identifying product and resource needs (e.g., personnel, budget, equipment), drafting testing procedures and protocols, securing prototypes, and managing design inputs and logistics.
  • Meet customer product assortment objectives while ensuring adherence to quality and testing standards, as well as margin expectations.
  • Lead the development of personal care products, including medical devices, cosmetics, and tailored formulations.
  • Continuously enhance standardized new product development methods to minimize cycle time, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve market responsiveness.
  • Conduct product performance testing on both existing and new products.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing manufacturing partners to ensure effective execution of the product development process.
  • Facilitate cross-functional product development meetings and internal communications, keeping key stakeholders updated on dependencies, critical decisions, trade-offs, and inputs to stay aligned for product launches.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to Brand Management, outlining product development solutions that address project scope, risks, trade-offs, and product conception and messaging.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain to evaluate the current supplier network, identify new supplier opportunities, and onboard new suppliers as necessary.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (must have led the complete product development process for multiple products, ideally within the consumer or medical industry).
  • Comfortable leading external vendors and collaborating cross-functionally with team members.
  • Expertise in new product development, product road mapping, and product cost and pricing strategies.
  • Skilled in strategic planning and effectively communicating a strategic vision.
  • Strong process management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Fusion 360 or similar CAD software is a plus.
