Position Overview:

The IT Learning and Development Manager is tasked with creating and executing extensive IT training initiatives tailored for legal professionals and support staff. This position will work closely with the Director of Technology Services, Human Resources, and Professional Development teams to craft and implement forward-thinking training approaches that cater to the diverse requirements of our workforce. The manager will also leverage external resources as needed to boost training effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate training on software supported by the firm through various delivery methods, including in-person sessions, webinars, video conferences, personalized coaching, and eLearning modules.
  • Provide technical training for new employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with management, user groups, and external partners to create and sustain a curriculum focused on operational workflows.
  • Design, develop, and implement training strategies that align with the organization's educational goals.
  • Serve as a user experience advocate on firm-wide project teams, contributing from project initiation through execution by testing software, developing training strategies, and producing supporting documentation.
  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify performance gaps and propose suitable training solutions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand specific needs across various roles, business units, and locations, delivering customized training solutions.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends in training technology and instructional design to continually enhance training programs.
  • Maintain detailed training records within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Travel to various locations as necessary to provide on-site training.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the organization's learning and development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in training and development within a professional services environment, ideally within a legal context.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in delivering technical training and creating training documentation.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing internal training teams and coordinating with external vendors for content delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent group facilitation skills, with the capacity to adapt content for diverse audiences and delivery methods.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in training and development, particularly within professional services.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in technical writing, with the ability to produce clear, precise training materials and user documentation. A writing sample may be requested.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, Document Management Systems (iManage Work preferred), Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, Kofax PDF Pro, Time Entry & Billing Programs (Intapp Time preferred), and Document Template and Numbering software (Litera preferred).
  • Experience in eLearning development.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as required.
