Position Overview:

The IT Learning & Development Manager plays a crucial role in crafting and executing comprehensive training initiatives tailored for attorneys and professional staff. This position will work closely with the Director of Technology Services, Human Resources, and Professional Development teams to devise and implement innovative training methodologies that cater to the distinct requirements of our diverse workforce. The manager will also leverage external resources as needed to enhance the effectiveness of training programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate training on firm-supported software through various delivery methods, including classroom instruction, webinars, video conferences, personalized coaching, and eLearning modules.
  2. Provide technical training for new employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
  3. Collaborate with management, user groups, and external partners to create and sustain a curriculum that emphasizes workflow efficiency.
  4. Design, develop, and implement training strategies that align with the organization’s educational objectives.
  5. Serve as a user experience advocate on firm-wide project teams, contributing from project initiation through implementation by testing software, formulating training strategies, and producing supporting documentation.
  6. Conduct training needs assessments to identify performance gaps and recommend suitable training solutions.
  7. Engage with internal stakeholders to understand specific needs across roles, business units, and locations, delivering customized training solutions.
  8. Stay informed about the latest trends in training technology and instructional design to continuously enhance training programs.
  9. Maintain detailed training records within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  10. Travel to various locations as necessary to provide on-site training.
  11. Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the organization’s learning and development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in training and development within a professional services environment, ideally within a law firm.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in delivering technical training and creating training documentation.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing internal training teams and coordinating with external vendors for content delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent group facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt content for various audiences and delivery methods.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in training and development, particularly within professional services.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in technical writing, with the capability to produce clear and precise training materials and user documentation. A writing sample may be requested.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, Document Management Systems (iManage Work preferred), Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, Kofax PDF Pro, Time Entry & Billing Programs (Intapp Time preferred), and Document Template and Numbering software (Litera preferred).
  • Experience in eLearning development.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
