Qualifications for Senior Grants Accountant:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years focused on HUD accounting, ideally within a non-profit framework.
  • In-depth knowledge of HUD regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with HUD-specific software is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex financial data and derive actionable insights.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across various departments.

Responsibilities of the Senior Grants Accountant:

  • Oversee HUD-related accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to HUD regulations and guidelines, remaining informed about updates and making necessary adjustments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to collect essential data and documentation for HUD reporting.
  • Prepare and evaluate financial statements, including budget versus actuals, variance analysis, and forecasts.
  • Assist in establishing and executing internal controls and procedures to protect HUD assets and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Support external auditors during HUD audits by providing necessary documentation and assistance.
  • Engage in special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within the finance department.
