Position Overview

This role is situated within the Department of Housing and Urban Development, specifically under the Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research.

This opportunity is available to various categories of applicants, including:

Key Responsibilities

As a Grants Management Expert, your primary duties will include:

  • Administering and awarding grants and cooperative agreements.
  • Engaging in both pre-award and post-award activities as a designated grant officer.
  • Overseeing specialized grants and cooperative agreements that hold significant relevance to the Department.
  • Assisting in grant policy formulation and participating in departmental meetings and forums.
  • Serving as a consultant in the creation of the Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) to maximize competition.
  • Advising on application review panels and providing guidance on competitive range determinations.

Employment Conditions

Selected candidates will be assigned to one of the designated duty stations. Non-compliance with reporting to the selected location may result in disciplinary actions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Possibility of a one-year probationary period.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation is mandatory.
  • Completion of a Declaration for Federal Employment to assess suitability.
  • Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer for salary payments is required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, including:

  • Management and oversight of the grant process.
  • Negotiating and awarding grants or cooperative agreements.
  • Providing technical guidance related to grants to stakeholders.
  • Reviewing audit reports pertaining to grants.
  • Closing out grants effectively.

Experience can be obtained in public, private, or volunteer sectors. Ensure that your resume reflects detailed employment dates and hours worked.

Additional Information

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Department offers flexible work schedules and may utilize this announcement to fill similar vacancies.
