Marketing Program Manager

The Marketing Program Manager will play a pivotal role in the comprehensive marketing and promotion efforts of NCAA Athletics, focusing primarily on specific sports programs, notably women's basketball and softball. Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, this position will oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing brand visibility, boosting ticket sales, and driving revenue-generating projects. Depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications, this role may be upgraded to the position of Associate Director of Marketing.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as the primary contact for the Marketing department within select cross-functional teams managing various sports programs.
  • For designated sports programs, lead the development and execution of a detailed marketing, ticket sales, social media, and public relations strategy, ensuring alignment with each external affairs unit's calendars and timelines.
  • Serve as the event director and producer on game days for assigned sports programs, which includes crafting game scripts, managing in-game fan engagement activities, ensuring fulfillment of sponsorship agreements, and overseeing the scheduling and management of game day personnel.
  • Act as a liaison between the sports program and the community relations department to elevate the team's community engagement profile.
  • Assist in orchestrating game day events for home football and other designated games, which involves supervising interns to guarantee the effective execution of on-field sponsorship elements, planning and managing game day operations, and supporting ticket sales activation initiatives.
  • Support special programs and community engagement events organized by the athletic department.
  • Serve as the marketing department's liaison with various stakeholders on campus and within the broader community.
  • Ensure compliance with all departmental and university policies and procedures, as well as the regulations and guidelines set forth by the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and required training initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. A completed four-year degree from an accredited institution or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  2. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in advertising, marketing, graphic design, content creation, public relations, or a closely related field.
  3. Prior experience with a collegiate or professional athletics organization is preferred.
  4. A proven history of success in marketing, graphic and web design, and public relations.
  5. Familiarity with game production software and systems.
  6. Experience with digital marketing and email marketing platforms.
  7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across various teams.
  8. Strong organizational skills and effective time management.
  9. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  10. Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  11. Proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  12. Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Conference regulations is advantageous.
  13. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations and build engaging relationships.
