Athletic Promotions Manager

The Marketing Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and promotion of NCAA athletics, with a concentrated emphasis on specific sports programs, particularly women's basketball and softball. Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, this position will oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at boosting brand recognition, ticket sales, and other revenue-generating activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Act as the primary contact for the Marketing department, collaborating with cross-functional teams managing various sports programs.
- For designated sports programs, lead the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing, ticket sales, social media, and public relations strategy, coordinating timelines and calendars with each external affairs unit.
- Serve as the event director and producer on game days for assigned sports, which includes crafting game scripts, directing in-game fan engagement, ensuring sponsorship fulfillment, and overseeing the scheduling and management of game day personnel.
- Act as a liaison between the sports program and the community relations department to elevate the team's community engagement profile.
- Assist in orchestrating game day events for home football and other designated games, including managing interns to ensure on-field sponsorship elements are executed effectively, planning game day operations, and supporting ticket sales initiatives.
- Support special programs and community relations events for the athletic department.
- Serve as the marketing department's liaison with various stakeholders on campus and within the broader community.
- Ensure compliance with all departmental and university policies, as well as the regulations and bylaws of the NCAA.
- Participate in ongoing education initiatives and required training programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A completed 4-year degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in advertising, marketing, graphic design, content creation, public relations, or a related field.
- Prior experience with a collegiate or professional athletics organization.
- Demonstrated success in marketing, graphic and web design, content creation, and public relations.
- Experience with game production software (e.g., ShoFlo, Click Effects, Sound Director).
- Familiarity with digital marketing and email marketing systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Aptitude for managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and university regulations is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations.
- Skill in building engaging relationships within and across various communities.
