The American Heart Association presents an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Manager of National Policy Research.

The individual in this position will spearhead the development of policies, provide research technical assistance, and oversee evaluation efforts for the initiative. This role emphasizes centering research efforts around racial justice and equity, fostering research collaborations with volunteer committees. Additionally, the position entails offering scientific guidance and direction to both internal and external science personnel and volunteers concerning public policy initiatives related to children's health, starting from prenatal stages. The role will also involve consulting on various scientific aspects of public health and professional programs, publications, and digital communications in health and science. This position exemplifies the American Heart Association's dedication to advancing the child health movement by enhancing collaborations with various internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs, guides, and collaborates with scientific volunteers within the American Heart Association and the National Collaborative for Infants and Toddlers to contribute to the creation of Voices/American Heart Association scientific documents, programs, and activities that align with achieving the Voices Mission.
  • Maintains expertise in cardiovascular and child health by reviewing scientific literature, establishing and nurturing professional consultation relationships, attending relevant meetings, monitoring legislative developments, and addressing inquiries from the public and professionals.
  • Centers Voices research and policy on equity while expanding research partnerships to ensure diversity and inclusivity.
  • Writes and edits science-related materials for Voices/American Heart Association professional channels and coordinates scientific reviews for Voices staff and grantees.
  • Exhibits leadership through active participation in the Voices management team and fostering a positive culture for Voices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proficient in: Coaching, Compliance Management, Risk Assessment, Coordination, Corporate Communications, Effective Communication, Government Relations, Industry Knowledge, Leadership, Planning and Organizing, Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Regulatory Analysis, Compliance, Regulatory Environment, Relationship Building, Team Management, and Team Building.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range is $110,000 - $121,000, commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply.
