Position Overview

The Instructional Leader for Years 7-12 will be an exceptional educator dedicated to enhancing classroom practices while spending a significant portion of their time engaging directly with students. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities tied to their expertise, including conducting demonstration lessons, observing peers, and facilitating professional development initiatives within the school. The ideal candidate will possess profound knowledge and skills in effective teaching methodologies aimed at improving student achievement, engagement, and overall wellbeing.

The primary objective of this position is to foster excellence in educational practices throughout the institution.

Key Responsibilities

Acknowledging the critical role of outstanding teaching in achieving superior student outcomes, the Instructional Leader's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Showcasing advanced expertise in pedagogical practices
  • Demonstrating exemplary teaching methods through live lessons
  • Collaborating with school leadership to establish a unified vision of effective teaching
  • Leading the execution of comprehensive school improvement strategies concerning curriculum design and implementation
  • Playing a pivotal role in delivering professional learning opportunities, including developing frameworks for peer observation and constructive feedback
  • Supporting educators in utilizing feedback to enhance their teaching practices
  • Offering data-driven insights to inform teaching effectiveness and professional growth
  • Providing specialized guidance on professional learning tailored to individual and institutional needs
  • Mentoring and supervising student teachers, as well as coaching fellow educators
  • Utilizing student performance data to refine instructional strategies
  • Promoting collaborative professional learning structures through Professional Learning Communities
  • Engaging in reflective practices to continually improve personal teaching methods based on peer feedback

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.
