Position Overview
The role of a classroom educator encompasses two distinct salary classifications: Range 1 and Range 2. The primary objective of the classroom educator is to design, prepare, and deliver educational programs aimed at achieving defined student outcomes. Educators engage in reflective practices and inquiry to enhance their knowledge and skills, thereby effectively engaging students and fostering their academic growth.
As educators gain experience, their contributions to the school community extend beyond the classroom. All educators may be tasked with additional responsibilities beyond their scheduled teaching duties, provided these responsibilities align with their salary classification, qualifications, training, and experience.
Range 2 Educators
Range 2 educators play a pivotal role in supporting the school’s efforts to enhance student performance and educational outcomes, as outlined in the school’s strategic plan and state priorities. They contribute to the formulation and execution of school policies and initiatives.
A key aspect of this role involves enhancing the knowledge base of staff regarding student learning and high-quality instructional practices, assisting the school in defining exemplary teaching practices.
Expectations for Range 2 educators include:
- Possessing the content knowledge and pedagogical skills necessary to address the diverse needs of all students.
- Demonstrating exemplary classroom practices and mentoring fellow educators in reflective practices to enhance their professional growth.
- Providing expert guidance on content, processes, and strategies that will shape individual and collective professional development.
- Supervising and mentoring student teachers.
- Assisting colleagues in utilizing student data to inform instructional strategies aimed at achieving targeted improvements in student learning outcomes.
Range 1 Educators
The primary focus for Range 1 educators is to further develop their skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners, supported by structured guidance from more experienced educators. They are responsible for teaching various student groups and ensuring the effective delivery of their educational programs.
Range 1 educators operate under general supervision within established guidelines and may oversee the training of student teachers. They actively participate in the development of school policies and programs, contributing to the implementation of school priorities.
Responsibilities of Range 1 educators include:
- Direct instruction of individual and groups of students.
- Contributing to the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum areas or programs within the school.
- Engaging in other teaching-related and organizational duties as assigned by the School Principal.
- Participating in school activities such as parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, and excursions.
- Undertaking non-teaching supervisory responsibilities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be currently registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.
Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
The educational institution is dedicated to promoting equal opportunity and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups.
Child Safety Standards
Our schools are committed to maintaining child-safe environments, actively promoting the safety and well-being of all students. All staff members are dedicated to protecting students from abuse or harm in accordance with legal obligations.
